Accounting error leaves Ontario scrambling

ONTARIO -- Council members are questioning the accuracy of the city's books in the wake of a treasurer's report Thursday. Treasurer Linda Stoodt told City Council an incorrect adjustment led to a $200,000 discrepancy. According to Auditor Jane Hammond, the error made the city's first-quarter shortfall appear to be $700,000 rather than $500,000.
